Emily Irene VanCamp originally wanted to pursue a career as a professional ballet dancer. However, after watching her sister Katie at her role on the Ladies Room movie set, Emily was captivated by acting. While taking acting lessons she was also offered the role of a guest on a TV show in Canada. Some of the shows that she had appeared in, besides other shows were Are You Scared of the Dark? Radio Active. VanCamp achieved a major breakthrough after he was cast on the WB horror-mystery series Glory Days as Sam Dolan. Though the show garnered positive critiques, it's poor ratings caused it to be removed after only nine episodes. In spite of her May 12th, 1986 birth date she was offered an appearance on Everwood in its cast as Amy Abbott. She was a finalist to win 4 Teen Choice Awards and a Young Artist Award.
